Set in the beautiful farm countryside, the festival has the perfect setting for a relaxing and enjoyable day outdoors. There are a host of attractions to look forward to: more than 60 stalls in the open air outdoor market serving good food, wines and cheeses, decadent strawberry treats and exquisite handmade crafts, a beer tent for winding down with friends while the kids go wild on the jumping castles, a giant slide, an inflatable rocket and more inside the kids play park, interesting berry and wine pairings presented by Tramonto, and Redberry strawberry talk and tours.
Afrikaans singer Lianie May, whose new album Naweek Lyfie achieved gold status earlier this year, will be on stage and there will be music throughout the weekend by local musician Daveymac.
Also on the programme are strawberry and ice cream eating competitions, miniature train displays, sports events such as the Redberry 8km trail run and 4km family fun run/walk, Moore Stephens George Berry Mountain Bike Relay and CrossFit George Fittest in the Garden Route, Algoa FM Vibe with Charlton Tobias, strawberries and more.
Entrance fees are R25 per adult on Saturday and R35 per adult on Sunday; for children under 12 it is R15 on both days. The festival opens at 09:00 and closes at 17:00 on the Saturday and 16:00 on the Sunday. View the programme online and make sure to book your tickets early at www.strawberryfestival.co.za.
