GEORGE NEWS & VIDEO - Visitors from all over the country flocked to the Nestlé Ice Cream Strawberry Festival held last weekend at Redberry Strawberry farm in Geelhoutboom.
Running in its 11th year, the festival stretched over three days.
According to Sharon House, marketing manager, a record number of visitors were counted on Saturday, for attendance on a single day.
"We had 5 090 people here on Saturday alone," said House. "It was awesome!" Unfortunately the rain on Sunday kept a lot of people away.
This year's presentation featured new additions such as the Strawberry Emporium with a berry bar, where visitors could taste a range of products made with the sweet red fruit, such as strawberry cocktails and a chocolate fundu.
Another first was a strawberry and wine pairing, which hit the right note.
