GEORGE NEWS - The George Music Society proudly presents a concert by the highly acclaimed pianist Mathilda Hornsveld and extraordinary violin and viola player Elmari van der Vyver.
Their programme will include famous compositions such as Vocalise by Sergei Rachmaninoff, The Entertainer by Scott Joplin, Oblivion by Astor Piazzolla, Ladies in lavender by Nigel Hess, La Cumparsita by Gerardo Rodriguez and many more.
Mathilda Hornsveld graduated from the University of Pretoria with a BMus in performance. She joined PACT with the inception of the Permanent Opera Chorus where she participated in many major opera productions.
She later became chorus master and appeared as assistant conductor for various productions. She has worked nationally as a freelance coach, chorus master and adjudicator.
Elmari van der Vyver is one of the leading exponents of the viola in South Africa today. She has a special interest in the expansion and promotion of the South African repertoire.
She studied under Alan Solomon and later under Prof Piet Koornhof of the North West University.
She is very involved in teaching, chamber music, recitals and orchestral work.
The concert takes place at 16:00 on Sunday 22 May at the Dutch Reformed Mother Church.
