This fabulous Broadway musical is to be staged at the York Street Theatre from 15 to 18 December. It is the heart-warming story of little orphan Annie, who escapes the drudgeries of life in the New York City Orphanage where Miss Hanningan dishes up ‘cold mush’, to a life of luxury with billionaire Oliver Warbucks. Of course no Broadway musical would be the same without its villains aka Miss Hannigan’s no good brother Rooster (Quinton von Biljon) and his floozy girlfiend Lily St Regis (Melissa Nieuwoudt).
Grace thinks it would be a good idea for Mr Warbucks to have an orphan stay with him for the Christmas holidays to help improve his image in the business world. But Warbucks being a business tycoon has no idea how to interact with a girl. "But orphans are boys!" he says.
Needless to say Annie whiles her way into his affections resulting in a wonderful climax to the show.
