This may be as a result of the heatwave that George was experiencing over the weekend. In the words of one of the attendees: "The band was OK, their repertoire excellent and the atmosphere great."
There was plenty to get nostalgic about, with a Dire Straits number like Sultans of swing and the Eagles' Hotel California, Pink Floyd's Brick in the wall and Bob Marley's No woman no cry. At the fervent urgings of one of the Rolling Stone fans, they played an excellent rendition of Paint it black. It was only after it cooled down that a group of people got up to dance. This Sedgefield band was certainly well polished.
During the concert, the GRBG Manager Dayne de Wet said he was satisfied with the turn-out and he is hoping that the next picnic concert, to be held on Monday 28 April at 16:00 (public holiday) when the Graeme College Steel band (R30) will be performing, will be equally well supported.
The Grahamstown band will be performing a repertoire including a variety of styles including calypso, pop, classical, samba and jazz.
