Visitors to the clivia show over the weekend were greeted with a plethora of different species. Gerhard and Karen Faber won first prize in the category orange clivias and Fanie van der Merwe's yellow clivia won first prize for 'first year' flower. Faber also won first prize in the multi-petal variety.
Show Manager Fanie van der Merwe said attendance figures were down somewhat and the idea has been raised for the South Cape Clivia Club and the South Cape Orchid Club to combine forces to have their annual exhibitions together along with the Bonzai Club and the South Cape Association for the Visual Arts (Scava).
"In this way we can pool our energies and come up with a more sustainable way of advertising a joint exhibition and make it an extravaganza," said Van der Merwe and Dawie Swanepoel of the Orchid Club, but emphasised that they would have to convince their respective committee first.
