GEORGE NEWS - The prizes of the 9th annual Gourmets and Gourmands will take away your breath!
Organisers went the extra mile to source prizes befitting the French Flair theme…a romantic overseas journey, an exotic getaway, extravagant jewellery and much more. Funds raised during the auction will be allocated to address the needs of the learners of Carpe Diem School.
With a theme that requires everything to be permeated with the flavour of romance, the organisers supplied amply. A trip for two to France with 4 nights' accommodation is the embodiment of all things French. That paired with a private cooking class with the doyenne of French cooking, Marlene van der Westhuizen… magnifique!
Another highlight of the auction is the timeless masterpiece donated by Rafaelle D'Amato Jewellers: an exclusive stainless steel Zenith men's watch with sapphire crystal dome and black alligator leather strap. A record price is expected for this exquisite watch.
Locally we do French splendidly, and you can test that for yourself at a five star stay for four at Le Franschoek Hotel in Franschoek and meals at Franschoek's finest establishments.
Those looking for something more exotic will find a getaway to Zanzibar (flights included), coupled with a French cooking course by kitchen queen Karen Du Plessis in George, on their menu. The highly entertaining Heads & Tails will see to it that some lucky guests win superior prizes for a steal.
