GEORGE ENTERTAINMENT NEWS - The South African theatre company Contagious Theatre, whose work has been enjoyed by audiences both locally and abroad, will be bringing two shows - Snow Goose and Dirt - to the George Arts Theatre on Saturday 23 February, for a matinee and evening show respectively.
The critically acclaimed Snow Goose is a timeless classic based on the short story of the same name by Paul Gallico. A chance encounter between a recluse and a young girl blossoms as they nurse an injured wild goose back to health in the marshes of Essex in the 1930s. Their idyllic world is turned upside down as the chaos of war intrudes.
With the use of masks, ingenious staging and the performance skills of Taryn Bennett and James Cairns, this is a theatre gem that has enthralled audiences wherever it has visited.
James Cairns stars in Nick Warren's one-man hit, Dirt. Having gone their separate ways for almost a year, the poker club are back together to bury their mutual friend. On a journey from Johannesburg to Cape Town the trio trade insinuations, insults, and injuries as they try to dig up the past and bury the present.
This hilariously funny show is age restricted and is not suitable for people under the age of 16.
"The Snow Goose" is directed by Jenine Collocott and features James Cairns and Taryn Bennett.
