Originally born in Jerusalem, they had most of their upbringing in George. From early on it was clear that their singularly exceptional music talent was destined to take them far in life.
This indeed proved to be the case, as Ammiel's career as a pianist and Avigail's career as a violinist took them on a dazzling journey along the international highways of classical success. Having both studied internationally, they have by now earned a long list of rare achievements, and have performed extensively around the world with many great names and famous orchestras.
While they each pursue independent musical careers, the siblings have developed a long-standing custom of making time to perform concerts together from time to time. Ammiel explained that their roots are still so strongly tied to the region of George that they go to great lengths to make sure that they perform in their home town once a year.
It will therefore be great news to their many loyal fans to hear that the Bushakevitz duo will soon be performing one of their annual concerts in our own town. The programme will be reflecting compositions by Saint-Saëns, Kreis-ler, and several works by Schubert, which is one of Ammiel's specialties. There will also be movements from Mozart's Sonata for Piano and Violin in A Major to look forward to. Those who become enraptured by Ammiel and Avigail's expressive style and effortlessly smooth deli-veries, will certainly not fail to be transported to another world.
Bushakevitz concerts are full-house concerts without fail, so early bookings are essential. Bookings can be made at PNA Stationers in York Street. Do not miss out on this amazing opportunity on Sunday 26 October at 15:30 at the Oakhurst Insurance George Arts Theatre, George. Tickets are R100 for adults, R70 for members and R20 for children.
