GEORGE NEWS - The acoustic abilities of the Market Community Theatre passed the test with flying colours when five opera singers released their arias to a full house on Sunday afternoon.
A visit from Cape Town Opera is a rare occurrence and heaven sent for those who had a busy week ahead.
It was baritone Luvo Rasemeni's first performance in George. He was accompanied by Siphe Mdena (tenor) and Amanda Meke (soprano), and the threesome was very well received by a highly appreciative audience.

Highlights of the afternoon include the following arias: Una furtiva lagrima from L’elisir d’amore by Donizetti, Papageno’s Aria from Die Zauberflöte by Mozart, The Letter Duet from Le nozze di Figaro by Mozart, Drinking song from La Traviata by Verdi, and Va pensiero from Nabucco by Verdi.
The programme was wrapped with a joint performance by the opera singers and a mixed adult choir under the direction of Hester Krige.
