GARDEN ROUTE ENTERTAINMENT NEWS - Luna Paige, a singer-songwriter from Stellenbosch, will be bringing her unique style of music to the Garden Route, starting with a performance in Keurboomstrand.
Her introduction to the music scene came when she was invited to record three songs on a compilation album in 1999 at the age of 19 while still studying at Stellenbosch University. Here she shared the stage with renowned SA singer Lesley Rae-Dowling. This experience launched Paige into her professional music career.
Her first three albums Luna, Missing Pieces and Wonderful Life introduced her as a singer-songwriter whose lyrics and voice touch the soul. Her first Afrikaans CD and DVD Storielied ensured her invitations to perform in Amsterdam, Soest and The Hague in the Netherlands. She also released an English album, Borders & Beyond, and initiated the Afrikaans music theatre production, Korreltjie Kantel.
The compilation album that spawned from the production Korreltjie Kantel has been nominated for a South African Music Award under the category Best Afrikaans Contemporary Album.
Paige produced RSG radio music production Smeltkroes featuring actor Marlo Minnaar and musician Ramon Alexander – celebrating poetry by writers such as Nathan Tantraal, Jolyn Phillips, Shirmoney Rhode and Diana Ferrus. This production is set to hit the stage in March next year.
Paige will be singing a collection of songs from her various albums and projects throughout the years. Expect a soulful original repertoire – songs in English and Afrikaans – inspired by life, love, novels, short stories, poems and collaborations with interesting and like-minded musicians who crossed Luna's path over the last 20 years.
Her first Garden Route performance will be on Wednesday 25 September at Mel's Place in Keurboomstrand at 20:00. Tickets will cost R100 from Quicket, and tickets are also available at the Info Kiosk at Market Square in Plettenberg Bay. Thereafter she will head to The Stables Eatery and Bar in Stilbaai on Thursday 26 September for a performance at 19:30. Tickets will cost R60.
Paige will end her Garden Route tour on Friday 27 September at the DeJa Vu Vintage House – The Monroe Theatre in Mossel Bay with a show at 19:00. Tickets will cost R120.
