GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - The Kaaimans River mouth and surrounding recreational areas have been closed to the public until further notice.
The closure is a precautionary measure after concerns that a dangerous bacteria may be present in the water.
Water tests are being conducted by the Eden District Municipality to eliminate the possibility that this bacteria is present in the water.
No recreational activities, including swimming, fishing, collecting of shellfish or picnics are allowed.
Signs prohibiting these activities are being erected and law enforcement officers are preventing access to the area.
Nothing is official and a statement will be released tomorrow.
