Kayla-Ann took top honours in the Girls u.14 final, also winning a Billabong certificate and Palmers prize for the surfer who posted the highest wave score on day four of the event.
She also walked away with the Dakine Gift Pack as the surfer who posted the highest heat score of the contest.
This talented young surfer earned a silver medal in the Senior Girls Flags Event and earned a bronze medal in the Senior Girls Paddle Battle, narrowingly being beaten by her twin sister Michelle.
Michelle Verreynne and Caroline van der Merwe took second and fourth place respectively in the u.16 Girls final. This division was won by Samantha Sutton (WP) and Jayde Lamb (KZNC) ended third. Michelle earned a second silver medal in the Senior Girls Paddle Battle and along with her twin sister Kayla-Ann, has been selected to represent the SA Academy Team to participate in the SA Junior Championships in October 2012.
More than 120 girls and boys from eight provincial associations took part in this annual event which is Surfing South Africa's Premier entry level Inter Provincial Tournament.
During the event competitors enjoyed good offshore conditions, endured rainy onshore surf and had to battle gale force winds and cold weather. Southern Cape ended 4th overall on 22 996 points behind KZN Central, Eastern Province and Western Cape taking top honours.
