GEORGE NEWS - The end of the sailing season for George Lakes Yacht Club (GLYC) is traditionally in the form of a short race followed by a sail past, with the sailors sailing in line past the commodore taking the salute from the committee boat.
However, this year, with the water of Island Lake currently being closed for water sport activities, this had to be done in a different format on shore.
Possibly toxic algae present on Island Lake has prompted SANParks to take this measure.
The sailors gathered in front of the clubhouse to salute the commodore, David Laing, who was standing on the steps of the club.
Afterwards, a pleasant social activity took place around the braai area.
