BOWLING NEWS - Was it bowls or was it kite flying? That question could well have been asked during the George Bowling Club's veterans' singles finals on Sunday 26 July.
The wind played havoc with the rolling of the jack, testing the finalists' skill and finesse.
However, they managed to keep their cool and produced some fantastic bowls.
The women's winners were Jackie Bredell (gold) and Wendy Murray (silver), while on the men's side, Mike McCarthy clinched the gold, followed by Alan Dissel with silver.
The club specially congratulated Dissel, one of George Bowling Club's longest-serving members, whose performance showed that experience never goes out of style.
