Team Manager Donald Olivier said, "The Southern Cape team is one of the most successful sporting teams in the modern era at Country District Hockey level, winning the tournament seven times in the last ten years.
"If we win this year, it will make it five titles in a row, and it will equal the record of nine tournament wins which is held by Natal."
Over the last decade the team produced a South African Country Districts coach, captain and numerous players who have performed at the National Inter Provincial tournaments. The Captain is Marc van Staden, and Vice Captain is Kevin Damons.
Our lads will be competing against KZN, Southern Gauteng, Northerns, Mpumalanga, Boland, Western Province, Northern Free State, Limpopo and EP Country Districts. The tournament ends on 14 July.
"We will go out there to win, but we don't want to get too presumptive and will keep focused on our aim all the time," said Van Staden.

The Southern Cape Hockey team are aiming to win in the Country Districts Hockey tournament in which they are taking part next week in Grahamstown.
