GEORGE NEWS - George Riding Club hosted their first stadium eventing qualifier for the South African National Equestrian Schools Association (Sanesa) last weekend. It was a great success, with talented young riders giving their best under testing circumstances.
This will now be followed by another Sanesa stadium eventing qualifier at the George Riding Club on 24 March, as well as the Western Cape eventing championships incorporating a Sanesa eventing qualifier over the last weekend in April.
Eventing is the triathlon of equestrian sport where one horse and rider combination has to complete the dressage, cross country and show jumping phases.

Sanesa is the portal for riders to represent their schools in equestrian sport and to achieve regional (Eden) colours, which puts them in line to qualify for the Western Cape Schools Equestrian Team.
Stadium eventing is a great introduction to eventing, for it gives the riders exposure to cross country-type fences in combination with some show jumping fences in a controlled environment. It is a great preparation for riders who would like to compete in eventing.
