GEORGE HORSE RIDING NEWS - George Riding Club will be hosting the 2019 South African Interprovincial Eventing Championships this weekend and invites the public to come free of charge and experience this incredible equestrian sport.
The event has attracted 165 horse entries from around the country who will battle it out over three days in three disciplines: dressage, show jumping and cross country.
The core of the event is the cross country test over a course of about 4 500m and 30 jumping obstacles to test the horses' bravery, agility and obedience, together with their riders' judgement of both their horse and the pace.
The dressage discipline demands control, precision and obedience with good forward movement. Show jumping is the final test looking for agility, accuracy and balance, made more challenging as the horses will have completed the cross country course earlier. Mike Greeff, president of Eventing SA, said they are excited to host this national competition at the George Riding Club.
"The George Riding Club is a respected and long-running equestrian institution with a wonderful reputation, top facilities and sizable grounds necessary for the cross country tracks. We wish the 165 riders competing from across the country good luck and to enjoy this fabulous event that so many have worked hard to make happen."
It will be a fantastic weekend of outdoors family fun with incredible horses and riders to watch who will be competing at a top level.
There will be stalls offering delicious food, complimentary wine tasting and handcrafted gin for sale.
Hundreds of riders, their entourages and spectators are expected for the weekend.
