GEORGE NEWS - George parkrun is ready to rock around the Christmas clock. This Saturday, 25 December, at 08:00 parkrun volunteers will welcome back all keen parkrunners with their special Christmas relaunch.
"Both bridges have been restored since the flash flood damage on 22 November and the course looks great," said liaison officer Wayne Ryder. "We are expecting an excess of 1 000 excited walkers, joggers and runners to join - dressed in the Christmas spirit."
The George parkrun was cancelled after the floods on Monday 22 November caused extensive damage to parts of the course in the forest.
This happened a mere two weeks after its first relaunch since the start of the pandemic.
A lot of hard work and dedication was put in by parkrun volunteers who spent hours over weekends to repair the bridges and the course. Ryder is excited about their relaunch and hopes to see Georgians joining in their numbers this Saturday.
Remember to bring your registered bar code, a festive attitude and a couple of friends. Inside parking is R10 and to take part is free.
Parkrun volunteers help to cut back the course in preparation of their second relaunch this coming Saturday, 25 December.
More than 1 000 walkers, joggers and runners are expected to join the Christmas parkrun on Saturday 25 December.
The hard work and dedication of the George parkrun volunteers paid off.
