EDEN DISTRICT NEWS - Bowling teams from Oudtshoorn and Mossel Bay took the championship titles of the 2017 Eden Open Trips competition played at the Outeniqua Bowling Club.
Top teams from various clubs in the region succeeded in the play-offs and went through to the semi-finals.
From the start it was clear that all the teams were ready for the challenge and excellent bowls was seen throughout the day. Some teams were unfortunate not to make it to the finals, but it was clear that the best teams on the day went through.
The championship in the men's section was won by the Oudtshoorn team (Johan Fernhout, Hennie van Greunen and Rudi Venter). The runner-up was the Outeniqua Bowling Club's team (Basil Steyn, Alhan van der Merwe and George Fick).

Another Outeniqua team with Attie Nortjé, John Dampier and Das Barnard took third place.
The championship in the ladies' competition was won by the Mossel Bay Bowling Club's team (Chevonne Kitching, Jo-Anne Meyer and Marlene Coetzer).
The runner-up was the George Bowling Club's team (Martie Pringle, Jenny Sinclair and Petro Breedt) and the third place belonged to the Mossel Bay team (Sharon Calverley, Tish Hockney and Yvonne Murphy).
