This auspicious occasion was attended by several dignitaries, among them Executive Mayor Alderman Charles Standers, Executive Deputy Mayor Councillor Daniel Maritz, Municipal Manager Mr Trevor Botha, General Secretary of the Western Cape Provincial Sports Confederation Mr Dave van der Walt, and Vice-President of Bowls South Africa Mr Kallie Haupt.
Both Standers and Van der Walt stressed their appreciation and congratulated Eden Bowls on the bold step taken as a federation. Van der Walt said the time had passed when administrators tried to run sport from their car boots.
The new Eden flag was raised whilst the Bowls Southern Cape flag was lowered to the enthusiastic applause of the representative players from sixteen of the twenty clubs under the control of Eden Bowls.
Alderman Standers, assisted by President of Eden Bowls, Mr Trevor Davis, unveiled a plaque and cut the ribbon opening the offices of the Eden Bowls Headquarters.
