GEORGE CYCLING NEWS - Local legends and members of the Hillbillies Mountain Bike club, Matthys Beukes, Robyn de Groot and Gert Heyns, made George proud again with their victories at the Sani2C Mountain Bike Race that took place from 14 to 16 May.
Covering 265 kilometres over three days from the Southern Drakensberg to Scottsburgh, these riders proved their grit in this gruelling race by taking the win in both the men's and women's categories.
The Pyga Euro Steel team of Matthys Beukes and Gert Heyns took the overall win at the KAP Sani2c Race on Wednesday 16 May in a time of 08:55:12, three minutes ahead of teammates Philip Buys and Pieter du Toit.
Robyn de Groot (Motorlease Perigon) finished first in the women's category with teammate Amy McDougall in a time of 10:40:38.
All three Hillbillies members continuously hone their exceptional mountain biking skills on tracks around George that are all built and maintained by the club under the leadership of master track builder Regardt Muller and his crew. Want to know more?
