GEORGE NEWS - The gold medals in both the men's and ladies Eden Senior Fours Championship will be staying in George after the local teams won the challenge in the tightly contested tournament that was played at George Bowling Club.
Teams from all over the Eden District participated in the successful event.
Bowls of a high standard with lots of nail-biting moments was seen at the tournament.
The quarter finals, semi-finals and finals were exceptionally tense with all the teams giving their best.
The men's final was an all-George affair with the George Bowling Club team of Japie Combrink facing Attie Nortje's team from Outeniqua Bowling Club.
Halfway through the game the score was fairly equal, but the George Bowling club team picked up some crucial points and stayed ahead to become the eventual winners.
Combrink's team members were Vlam Basson, Neil Abrahamse and Steven Marchant.

In the ladies' competition, Jemima Nortjé's team from Outeniqua Bowling Club played the strong Knysna team of T van der Westhuizen.

This was also a very close contest with Outeniqua making the breakthrough right at the end of the game.
The team members of Nortjé's winning team were Peta-Ann Basford, Eliana Hattingh and Judy Swart.
