GEORGE NEWS - George Bowling Clubs’ annual prize giving, sponsored by Outeniqua Risk Solutions, was held on Wednesday 16 August. Old man's marbles! No more - bowls is now known as “1 Sport for Life.”
According to the organisers the ages range from 25 to 85 and the club have a disabled player who was the runner up in the Veterans Singles.
The open singles men’s champion, Matthew Blumrick, is the youngest ever to win this prestigious title and he is still a novice - meaning that he has played for less than three years.
In fact, he has only been playing for just under a year. The club also have a number of young ladies who, due to other sporting activities, are not always able to play in club competitions.
There are also a number of young girls and boys whose ages range from 11 years upwards who play regularly.
