GEORGE NEWS - The Garden Route National Park (GRNP) hosted a sports day on Friday 26 July, bringing together staff members from various sections and partners for a day of fun and competition.
The event was held at the Rosemoor Stadium and featured two main sporting codes: soccer and netball.
In the soccer tournament, teams from different sections of the GRNP, including Wilderness, Knysna and Tsitsikamma, competed alongside teams from the Karoo National Park, Outeniqua Chiefs and Old Mutual.
The tense final was played between Wilderness and the Outeniqua Chiefs with the Chiefs winning 6-5 in a penalty shoot-out.
The netball tournament featured teams from the Wilderness, Knysna and Tsitsikamma sections of the GRNP, as well as teams from the Department of Health, Old Mutual and the Garden Route District Municipality.
The final match saw the Wilderness section facing off against the Department of Health. Wilderness emerged victorious, winning 9-6.
"The GRNP day was a success, fostering a spirit of camaraderie and healthy competition among the participants and staff," said Phokela Lebea, regional communications manager of SANParks.
The event was made possible through the generous support and partnership of SANParks, Old Mutual, and Moso Consulting.
