The inaugural “Fittest in the Garden Route” was a competition centred around CrossFit to test athletes in a broad range of physical tasks. These included Cardiovascular Fitness, Gymnastic Ability, and Olympic Lifting.
After a hard fought battle over 4 heats and two days, Emile Conrad (CrossFit Wings) just sneaked in ahead of Glen Addicott (CrossFit George) and Walter Lutsch (CrossFit Kwagga) in the Individual Men’s Category. CrossFit Plett had an extremely consistent weekend and led from the first heat to beat the CrossFit Wings team and “Soul of a Lion” (SOAL) who came second and third respectively.
It was an extremely exciting event with much spectator interest and it was fantastic to see local CrossFitters getting an opportunity to compete amongst each other. This is an event which will certainly grow and go from strength to strength and we look forward to see what next year’s event has to offer.
CrossFit George would like to thank CAW Nutrition, Reebok and Ambiante Guesthouse for their support and help with making the event possible.
