GEORGE NEWS - On 27 and 28 April, the World Association of Kickboxing Organisations (Wako) SA hosted the South African National Championships in Potchefstroom.
Among the other Eden district athletes that gave it their all and made Eden proud, there was one who particularly stood out.
15-year-old Dandrè Venter joined the SASL (South African Sports League) team under coach and world champion Chayse Norris less than a year ago.
Due to Dandrè's commitment and improvement over such a short period and the commitment and faith of his coach, he was selected to join the Western Cape team in Potchefstroom. Dandrè walked away proudly with two gold and one silver at the SA National Championships.
Dandrè will also be joining the South African Wako kickboxing team to compete at the Junior Wako Youth World Kickboxing Championship in Budapest, Hungary, in August.
Big thanks to his coach, Chayse Norris, for bringing him this far, believing in him and for being right there in his corner in Budapest.
Our region is filled with some very talented athletes who work hard to achieve great results. They deserve to be offered every possible opportunity that comes their way.
We look forward to seeing the communities coming out to support the local events and clubs.
If you or your business would like to get involved in assisting these young talented athletes to achieve their dreams, you can reach out to SASL.
