GEORGE NEWS - The senior men’s side of Crusaders Hockey Club has completely dominated this year’s Senior Eden hockey league.
Led by John Spilhaus they have an astonishing unbeaten record. Not only has this team not lost a single match, they put together a monumental goal difference of 76, scoring 79 goals with only three goals against them for the season.
Coach Kirk Mendoza ascribed the amazing success of this season to a phenomenal group of players, with the likes of John Spilhaus (captain), Robbie Corker (SACD men’s player of the tournament), ex-York High super star Sean Slater, and several senior players that form the core of the team.
Finishing top of the log with a semi-final against Plett Hockey Club, Crusaders eased into the final with an 11-0 victory.
In the finals Crusaders once again showed their dominance with an 11-1 victory against Old Oaks Hockey Club to be crowned the 2024 champions.
