GEORGE NEWS - Athletes can kick off the new running season by supporting the Tolhuis Charity Run on Saturday.
All three races will start and finish at the Herold Wine Estate and are being sponsored by the George Vryburgers in cooperation with Herold Wines.
Grasshopper Outeniqua Harriers Athletics Club is hosting the event in aid of the historical Old Toll House.
The 20km mountain run in the Montagu Pass starts at 07:00, to be followed by the 11km race at 07:10. The 4km fun run starts at 07:15.
Athletes do not have to wear their club clothing or license numbers. Only two water stations will be provided on the route, so athletes should bring additional water supplies.
First-aid will be available at the start and finishing area and ablution facilities at Herold Wines.
Entries by hand can be done at Top Gear Sport in Meade Street. Pre-entries closed on Wednesday 15 January. Late entries can be done on race day.
Cash prizes are up for grabs for the top three athletes in each of the two longer races. There will also be a lucky draw.

Entry fees are as follows:
20km race: licensed athletes R120, unlicensed athletes R155. 11km race: licensed R75,unlicensed R110. 4km fun run: R30, plus R20 for late entrants.
Medals will be awarded to all participants who complete the route within the required cut-off times. For the 20km race it is four hours and for the 11km race, two and a half hours.
The prize-giving takes place at 11:00 at Herold Wines.
