GEORGE NEWS - The George Older Persons Forum (GOPF) held a successful Active Ageing Golden Games at Outeniqua Park on Friday 26 July that saw almost 200 people attend.
Individuals over the age of 60 participated in various competitive games including sprinting, duck walking and goal hitting with a hockey stick.
Nine clubs participated with two from Pacaltsdorp, two from Thembalethu, and one each from Rosemoor, Haarlem, Herold, Parkdene, Blanco and Uniondale. The oldest participant was Patricia Hendriks (83) of the Pacaltsdorp Golden Jewels.
The GOPF will select 60 individuals to participate in the district games that will be held in Oudtshoorn on 24 October.

GOPF chairperson Blanche Benjamin thanked George Municipality, GRDM's department of health, SAPS, Eden Sport Council, Avbob, EdenFM, Pacaltsdorp Business Chamber, Heimi Syster of the
organising committee and all the volunteers who helped make the day a big success.
