This year it is no different as local players and visitors show their mettle on the club's top-class nine-hole course.
The field has filled up nicely and 130 players will be teeing up in a morning and afternoon field to accommodate all players. After the good rains, the course, and especially the greens, are in superb condition.
Not only will visitors be bowled over by the excellent course - the friendliness of the Graaff-Reinet people and the delicious and generous meals will surely see them returning year after year.
Rich history
The Proudfoot has been an annual event since 1997 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the late Douglas Proudfoot who lived in Graaff-Reinet and, who, with no formal coaching, won the SA Amateur golf title eight times in less than a decade.
All three days are played in Individual Stableford format and a whopping R40 000 worth of prizes are up for grabs.
To be able to host a tournament of this nature, the club is dependent on sponsorships. Hence, a huge thank you goes out to all involved, especially to the main sponsors, Graaff-Reinet SPAR group, OCTOFIN and Riverside ENGEN for their generous support of the club.
Spectators are welcome to go enjoy the magnificent views of the mountains overlooking the lush green fairways and join in the camaraderie and evening functions.
