Norgarb, playing off a +2 handicap, shot a gross 70 on the first day, which was good enough to beat exciting youngster Jovan Rebula, also a +2 handicap, into second place with his 72 gross. Ruco Ebersohn, playing off an 11 handicap, beat Colin Hoogbaard (12 handicap) in the B-division after both scored an 81 gross in the first round with Ebersohn winning via a count out.
The majority of competitors braved the elements on the Sunday and managed a few holes out in the lashing rain, but eventually a decision was made to abandon play and base the results on the previous day, as even allowing an hour for a rain delay would prevent the players who were scheduled to originally tee off last to finish in time.
"I am very honoured to be the George Club Champ for 2013," says Norgarb.
"I wish the tournament could have been concluded over 2 days, however thanks must go to the George Golf Club staff and management for putting on another great championship this year, even though it was under difficult circumstances. Also a big thank you to John Mundell from AON for sponsoring the championship again this year and congratulations to Ruco Ebersohn for winning the B-division."
