FOOTBALL NEWS - Vista FC sank Fast Eleven with a score of 1-0 in a pulsating Geolfa League game on Sunday afternoon, 12 June, at the Lawaaikamp Stadium in George.
The only goal was scored in the first 15 minutes by Kwanele Tom for Vista. So far Vista have played 26 games with 18 wins and six draws, and have lost in two meetings.
They are in third position on the Geolfa League table with 60 points. With four fixtures remaining, they still have hopes to reach the top of the log.
After playing 30 games, Black Cats are leading the race with 61 points with four games in hand and NMU are occupying second spot with 60 points. Fast Eleven are fighting their way up to the top five.
Vista were responsible for the first excitement of the game when Ikhona Mdike broke through the defence, but his shot missed. Shortly after, Kwanele Tom of Vista netted the only goal of the game from a top-notch pass played in from the centre of the field.
Vista continued to dominate the first half, staying in control of the ball and making smooth combination passes. Two more attempts were made by Vista players Malwande Msilelwa and Ikhona Mdike in the first half, with Fast Eleven's Aphelele Kili and Avela Mafukula also trying their luck.
In the second half Fast Eleven came back with offensive play. They received a free kick, but the Vista goalkeeper blocked their shot.
They had another golden opportunity to put some points on the score board after the Vista goalkeeper mishandled the ball inside the box, but their striker missed. With their 1-0 victory, Vista collected three points putting pressure on the Geofa log leaders, Black Cats.
