GEORGE NEWS - A goal from Lwando Nomsatha secured a 1-0 victory for Vista against the struggling Young Brothers in an exciting Geolfa League game on Saturday afternoon, 4 June at the Lawaaikamp Stadium.
Sitting in third place on the log, Vista's boys are currently fighting for the top spot and the three points collected with this win help keep alive their hope for the league title.
So far they have played 25 fixtures with 17 victories and six draws, and have lost in two meetings, earning 57 points. They are breathing in the necks of Black Cats, who are second with 58 points, with the NMU students in the lead on 60 points. The struggling Young Brothers team are currently at the bottom of the Geolfa League table.
The game started on a high note. Thanks to an offensive attack from the centre of the field, Vista scored in the first 30 seconds to make it 1-0.
Young Brothers tried to come back into the game using their speed on the wings. Both teams were playing attacking football creating more scoring chances, but failed to turn their opportunities into goals.
A free kick for Young Brothers was cleared away by Vista's defence. Vista started the second half by launching strong attack looking for their second goal.
Fundile Ncevu was controlling the game from the centre of the field and Young Brothers' players Sihle Manyana and Luvo Mhlambisi on defence had their hands full. However, when the final whistle blew, the score was unchanged with Vista winning 1-0.
