GEORGE NEWS - The George Correctional Service "Inmates" team United Brothers FC defeated Paris United 2-0 in a beautiful Safa Eden Regional Men's League game on Sunday morning, 5 November at the Lawaaikamp Stadium.
The goals were scored by Ayabonga Santi and Nxaso Mdoda. Both teams are fighting their way up to the top eight positions of the Regional League log table.
The game started with United Brothers on the attack and they netted their first goal within ten minutes. The Thembalethu-based side Paris United were chasing the game looking very dangerous on the ball. Both teams were playing the ball on the ground to create scoring opportunities, with United Brothers dominating in the central position.
Paris United used their physical strength to try and penetrate United Brothers defence. Odwa Petersen (Paris United) and Simon Nel (United Brothers) made unsuccessful attempts to score. United Brothers' second goal was scored by Nxaso Mdoda who directed a beautiful header from a corner kick to make it 2-0.
The exciting first half ended 2-0 with United Brothers leading into the break.
During the second half, both sides failed to convert their scoring opportunities and the game ended 2-0.
