GEORGE NEWS - Two 14-year-old girls from Jonga High School, Usiphile Ngqavu and Sanelisiwe Yengwa, made their school proud when they reached the final of the National Football First Programme for u.15s.
The two did very well in the tournament and were the only two girls from George to be selected for the provincial trials.
The talented girls, who had been part of the FNB Football First u.15 Eden Region team, came back home with silver medals after losing in the final against Pietermaritzburg in Johannesburg.
The national soccer festival was held during the October school holiday. The FNB Football First development programme was launched in 2010 to develop football in five communities in South Africa with playing facilities and coaching clinics at regional level.
The aim of the programme was to give hope to the disadvantaged in towns across South Africa, acting as a platform to identify talent in boys and girls in the u.15 age group.
