GEORGE NEWS - Following an increase in the numbers of the Mamelodi Sundowns Football Club supporters in the Western Cape, the branch in George was relaunched on Saturday 6 July. The event, that drew more than 100 supporters from across the province, was held at Tyholorha Primary School in Zone 6, Thembalethu.
During the launch, Western Cape provincial chairperson of the supporters branches, Mzukisi Tengile, announced the new leadership structure.
Costa Ndlovu was elected the chairperson of the George branch, with Pink George as deputy chairperson, Sisa Trom the branch secretary, Luck Duma his deputy and Phumlani Kwetani as treasurer.
Tengile told George Herald that the provincial management decided to come to George in their numbers for the relaunch and to celebrate the success of their work. He praised the George branch for their excellent team work and working close with their communities, making George one of the most active branches in the Western Cape.
Newly elected branch chairperson Costa Ndlovu said they are going to build and grow and encourage more people in George to join. The team still have to discuss the way forward, but their main aim is to work closely with the communities of George, bringing the game to the locals.
