GEORGE NEWS - Saturday saw the second round of the George United’s Under 12 Cup Series and with seven teams left there were two straight quarter finals and the remaining three teams playing for two places, all decided on a blind draw.
Leopards and Rosemoor kicked off the day with half time arriving with no score. However, Leopards’ Freddy Hiney and Sean Varty scored to make the game 3-0.
Game two saw Eagles take on Team United and in a very close game United took the lead.
Eagles pushed hard for an equalising goal, but United scored in the later stages to make the score 2-0.
Falcons took on Leopards in game three with Matthew Moody and then Keegan Steventon scoring for Falcons.
In the second half a penalty for Leopards was converted by Picaso in blistering style before Luka Noland equalised.
Both teams played some exciting football before Steventon scored the winner for Falcons.
Seven Stars took on Rangers and took the lead in the first half and despite some intense pressure Rangers could not score one of their many chances.
The final game of the day saw Falcons take a 3-0 win over Rosemore with goals from Moody and Steventon.
Semi-finals
In the semi-finals of the U/15 Bart Cup Team United dominated the Falcons sco-ring eight goals without reply.
Game Two saw Seven Stars take on the Eagles.
Stars scored three goals with only one goal in reply from Eagles.
In the u/17 shield Rovers took on LIFE Community Services. LCS dominated the game scoring six goals with only one in return for Rovers.
Pharoahs took on Rosemoor and whilst the score ended up one a piece after full time the real excitement started when the penalty shootout took place.
Pharoahs eventually won by three penalties to two.
In the Honda Youth Cup Evergreens and Team United played a very entertaining game.
Evergreens conceded two goals, but took the victory by scoring three through Jeffrey Myandlu, Charlton Afrika and Francois Steenkamp.
Joining Evergreens in the final is DR George who also won 3-2 against Out of Africa Missions.
The finals of the cups will now be held on 29 May.
George United will also be holding an u/12 tournament from 5 to 6 June which already has teams from Knysna, George and Cape Town entered.
