GEORGE NEWS - Though the Lawaaikamp side Simunye Football Club already became the champions of the Regional League the previous weekend, they still gave Burning Fire a thrashing in their second-last fixture of the season.
"Umlilo" Burning Fire lost with a humiliating score of 8-2 on Saturday afternoon, 7 May at the Lawaaikamp Stadium.
Simunye displayed good touches on the ball with a hat trick by Yamkela Ntlaba and excellent play by the 19-year-old Siwaphiwo Ndumiso. Simunye will play their remaining fixture against Paris United on Sunday afternoon, 15 May, at the Lawaaikamp Stadium, after which they will be officially crowned as regional champions.
The pressure is on at the bottom of the table where Young Pirates (George), Raul Stars (George), Burning Fire (George) and Raising the Bar (Mossel Bay) are trying to avoid being one of the two teams that will be relegated when the league finishes next Sunday.
