SOCCER NEWS - The Lawaaikamp side Simunye FC has finished the first round of the Safa Eden HollywoodBets Regional League 2024/25 season in first place.
They have been dominating the regional league from the start of season and ended the first round with an impressive record after registering four points in the last two matches last weekend.
In their first game of the weekend, they defeated Fast Eleven 5-1 at the Lawaaikamp Stadium. In their second game, they played a goalless draw against Moonlight FC in Dysselsdorp, Oudtshoorn.
With 34 points, Simunye are currently at the top of the log and well on their way to win the title for the second time (they were the champions in the 2021/22 season). They have played 15 fixtures with 10 wins, four draws and one defeat, and have 48 goals under their belt.
Breathing in their necks are Black Cats (George, 27 points), Moonlight (Dyseldorp, 27 points), Voota FC (Knysna, 27 points) and Bitou Young Pirates (Plettenberg Bay, 27 points).
Two Knysna teams are currently in the relegation zone at the bottom of the log: FC Rebels only won two games and Red Eagles Football Club only managed to get one victory. The second round of the regional league fixtures will start next weekend.
