SOCCER NEWS - Simunye FC and Fast Eleven played out a 3-3 draw in a thriller during a Safa Eden Regional Men's League clash at Lawaaikamp Stadium on Saturday morning.
Languishing near the foot of the table, Simunye produced one of its most spirited displays of the season to share the spoils with Fast Eleven.
They struck first when some pressure down the right flank forced Sihle Mafukula into an own goal after an excellent attack from Luzuko Sabelesiva. The hosts doubled their advantage soon after, Yongama Koeberg finishing neatly from another pinpoint cross by Sabelesiva to make it 2-0.
Fast Eleven responded before the break. Zefanias Mabunda converted from the penalty spot to reduce the deficit to 2-1 at half-time.
The visitors drew level in the second half when Kamvalethu Dyordan calmly slotted home their second penalty of the match. Simunye, however, refused to fade and regained the lead through Sibongakonke Mntambo, who made it 3-2 to heap pressure on the visitors.
Fast Eleven showed resilience in the closing stages, and Jongikhaya Myana struck late to secure a share of the points in a dramatic finish.
The result sees Fast Eleven drop to eighth place on 20 points after 11 matches, while Simunye remains second from bottom on eight points, though their performance will offer renewed hope for the remainder of the campaign.
