SOCCER NEWS - The Royal Blues remain at the top of the George Local Football Association Super League standings after an entertaining 3-3 draw against Rising Stars FC at Thembalethu Stadium on Saturday 13 September.
The Zone 6-based side appears determined to secure promotion to the Geolfa Promotional League for the 2026/27 season, and their latest result is keeping them firmly in control of the title race.
Yamkela Msebenzi was the standout performer for the Royal Blues, scoring twice in an impressive display. The Rising Stars opened the scoring through Hlomla Hoco from the penalty spot, but Msebenzi levelled with a well-struck effort from outside the box to make it 1-1 at half-time.
The Royal Blues moved ahead after the break when Msebenzi completed his brace, but Anothando Magqesha quickly restored parity. Bunono Kama then put the Blues 3-2 ahead, before Uyakha Mampangashe struck late to earn the Rising Stars a share of the spoils.
The Royal Blues now lead the standings with 38 points from 19 matches, while the Rising Stars occupy fourth place on 33 points.
