GEORGE FOOTBALL NEWS - Local football teams were pitched against one another in a pre-season tournament at the Lawaaikamp Stadium which started on Saturday 1 September and concluded last Sunday.
The teams that took part were Black Cats, Young Blues, All-Stars, Diego Masters, United Brothers, Paris United, Young Pirates, and Simunye.
In the first semi-final, Paris United defeated United Brothers 4- 3.
The second semi-final took place at Lawaaikamp Stadium between Simunye and Black Cats on Sunday 16 September.
When the final whistle blew, the teams were tied 1-1 and a winner had to be determined with a penalty shoot-out. Simunye came out victorious with a score of 4-1.
The final was played between Simunye and Paris United on 16 September.
The first half ended 1-1. In the second half, the score remained unchanged, again necessitating a penalty shoot-out, with Paris United claiming the tournament with a score of 5-4.
