SOCCER NEWS - On Saturday afternoon, 6 September, the Orlando Pirates' supporters branch in George held their relaunch at the Multipurpose Thusong Centre in Thembalethu.
All branches in the Western Cape attended the event.
While the supporters club was founded 88 years ago, the George branch was established much more recently, in 2021.
The chairperson, Mpendulo Eric Ndodana-Ndebe, was elated about the large number of supporters who attended. He said the aim of the supporters branch is to promote discipline and unity through sport in the George communities and the Western Cape.
He emphasised the role the branches play in directing the youth away from activities such as crime and substance abuse and introducing them to the much healthier world of sport.
He said members learn discipline at the branches through following rules and instructions to grow into well-behaved individuals.
