FOOTBALL NEWS - Murray High School's U19 soccer team made history once more when they claimed the provincial Kay Motsepe title on Saturday afternoon, 23 September, at the Saldanha Sports Complex in the West Coast Region.
In order to be crowned as the champions of the Western Cape Kay Motsepe U19 Schools Cup, Murray High defeated Qhayiya Second High 0(9)-0(8) on penalties after extra time, after a goalless draw. In their first game, Murray High played out a 1-1 draw against the hosts, Louwville High School.
They went into their second game with a positive spirit, and won 2-1 against Luckhoff High. After these impressive results, Murray High were on top of their group.
Murray High U19 player, Limile Mamana, told Knysna-Plett Herald that he feels good and excited. He said that, after making it through as a team, going forward they will hopefully continue with the same energy they showed in Saldanha.
He indicated that teamwork made them better in the provincial play-offs and stressed that it was not easy at all, but they pulled through together as a team.
