FOOTBALL NEWS - Former Bidvest Wits' midfielder Phakamani Mahlambi, who now plays in Egypt for giants Al Ahly, was included in the Bafana Bafana squad on Tuesday for the Four-Nations Tournament in Zambia.
The competition, which takes place from March 18 to 25, will also feature neighbouring countries Zimbabwe and Angola.
Coach Stuart Baxter will use the tournament as preparation for the 2019 Afcon qualifiers in September.
As expected, a number of young players received their first call ups into the national team. They include Kaizer Chiefs' promising young striker Ryan Moon, midfielder Thembinkosi Lorch from Orlando Pirates, Maritzburg United's Siphesihle Ndlovu and Tebogo Mokoena from SuperSport United.
Ajax Cape Town's goalkeeper Brandon Peterson also got a nod as well as Pirates' left-back Innocent Maela, whose half brother Tsepo Masilela represented Bafana for a long time as a left-back too.
French Ligue 1 based duo Bongani Zungu and Keagan Dolly are some of the experienced members of the team which includes most capped Chiefs' goalie and skipper Itumeleng Khune.
