GEORGE FOOTBALL NEWS - The new Safa Eden regional champions, the George side Black Cats, will represent the Eden Region in the Western Cape ABC Motsepe League provincial playoffs, which takes place later this year.
The bottom teams, Young Blues (George) and Young Pirates (George), will be relegated to the lower division.
Teams in Safa Eden Regional League are:
Black Cats (George), FC United (Knysna), Peace Makers (Mossel Bay), Infantry (Oudtshoorn), Benfica (Mossel Bay), CX Celtics (Knysna), Paris United (George), Moonlight (Oudtshoorn), Oriented Birds (Plettenberg Bay), Burning Fire (George), Eastern City (George), Parks United (George), Simunye (George), United Brothers (George), Young Pirates (George) and Young Blues (George).
In the Geolfa League - the domestic league - the youthful side Raul Stars were crowned as the new champions after facing 15 teams with 11 victories and four draws. The Thembalethu-based side will represent George in the Safa Eden Regional playoffs on 24 and 25 July in Plettenberg Bay.
The other Local Football Association league winners are: Buruch (Mossel Bay), Spring Roses (Oudtshoorn), Red Eagles (Knysna) and Raul Stars (George). In Plettenberg Bay the final games are still to be played.
Development or junior's league
According to the Geolfa League chairman, Mbongeni Kalipa, the development league was postponed due to the increase in Covid-19 numbers.
"Therefore development or juniors league won't be fixtured. We will inform the teams on a weekly basis on what is going on as we are monitoring the situation. The league is meant to be finished in October, therefore we still have time to complete the competition," said Kalipa.
