GEORGE FOOTBALL NEWS - The Lawaaikamp stadium was filled with excitement on Saturday afternoon, 17 November, as the two Lawaaikamp rivals battled it out in an SAB League first leg derby game.
The excitement and energy at the stadium was felt to the far corners of the field as the supporters of both teams cheered for their clubs. Black Cats played a 1-1 draw against Young Blues in a nail-biting game. The first half kept the supporters on the edge of their seats.
Both teams displayed positive football. Black Cats scored the first goal within ten minutes, Lunga Jantjies (Black Cats striker) beating the offside trap of Young Blues defenders and managing to score. Twenty-five minutes into the game, Young Blues received a free kick just outside the box. "Manqene" Sipho Phendukwana took a powerful shot through the wall of Black Cats to make it 1-1. The first half ended 1-1.
During the second half, Lunga Jantjies received a beautiful pass from the centre of the field to attack Young Blues defenders.
Luntu Siko made a reckless challenge against Jantjies and was sent off the field with a red card, leaving Young Blues with 9 players on the field. Young Blues made up for their loss by maintaining a strong attack when they were going forward. Black Cats middle fielder Siyabonga Situlo fouled a Young Blues player just outside the box and was also sent off. With two red cards on each side, both teams were again equal on the field.
