Infantry School douse Burning Fire's flame

GEORGE SOCCER NEWS - Umlilo (Burning Fire) Football Club failed another difficult test at home, missing a perfect opportunity to register much-needed points when they played against the Oudtshoorn-based Infantry School.

Infantry School defeated Umlilo 2-0 on Saturday evening, 26 February, at the Lawaaikamp Stadium.

Infantry School's two goals were scored by Lincoln Dlamini and Austin Jooste.

The Thembalethu-based side Burning Fire launched the first attack of the game, but the visiting side controlled the game from the centre of the field, creating scoring opportunities and using their physical strength on the ball.

The sensational Burning Fire winger Berry Winter missed the first chance of the game when he failed to beat the Infantry School goalkeeper. Infantry kept on pressing on the left side of the field and managed to receive a corner kick.

They launched a dangerous attack, but failed to break the net. The Infantry School boys were looking very sharp on the ball, creating more chances, but, like Burning Fire, missed their clear-cut chances. The first half ended goalless.

The second half of the game saw Infantry School looking very focused and playing exciting football. Infantry School scored their first goal to make it 1-0 after a marvellous cross played in from the left side of field.

Burning Fire captain Zizipho Mtyukwini sent a powerful shot from the set piece outside the box, but his shot was denied by the goalkeeper. Infantry School netted their second goal to make it 2-0. Infantry School kept on chasing more goals but their attempts went wide. Yamkela September of Burning Fire received a beautiful pass from the left side of the field and tried his luck, but his shot went wide. Burning Fire were desperately chasing a goal, coming back in full force, but still failed to score. The Safa Eden Regional League game ended 2-0.
