GEORGE NEWS - Abahlali, "the residents" from Zone 9, defeated Western Tigers 2-0 in a difficult Geolfa League game on Saturday afternoon, 24 February at the Lawaaikamp Stadium. Fanele "Mido" Chele scored a brace for his team.
After eight games, Abahlali are sitting third on the Geolfa League log with 15 points, having earned four victories and three draws, and losing one game.
Western Tigers are in the bottom half of the log table.

Western Tigers kicked off the game trying to get the ball rolling on the left side of the field, but the ball was blocked by Abahlali defenders. The experienced Fanele Chele of Abahlali controlled the game playing smart touches in the centre of the field. Both teams were playing the ball on the turf.
Ndyebo Ngcwangu of Abahlali tried his luck with a long-range shot, but it went over the bar. Western Tigers launched an excellent attack going into the box but failed to break the net. Western Tigers goalkeeper Mbulelo Lingani made a brilliant save denying Abahlali's first goal. No goals were scored in the first half.
The second half saw both teams playing with more discipline and skill on the ball and creating more scoring opportunities.

Abahlali attacked on the left side, but Ayabulela Makala of Western Tigers defended very well, employing his height to clear the ball.
The hard-working Fanele Chele of Abahlali opened the score after a clever pass played in by Ndyebo Ngcwangu on the right side of the field.
Western Tigers attempted to score an equalising goal, but their shot went wide.
The fast Abahlali wingers broke through the Western Tigers back line. Endlinalo Sishuba of Abahlali FC launched a dangerous set play attacking on the left side of the field and delivered a clever pass inside the box. It was received by Fanele Chele who scored his second goal.
The game ended 2-0 with the Zone 9 giants earning the maximum points.
